The Discover Video StreamPump® works in conjunction with a DEVOS system to overcome bandwidth issues for live video streams at remote locations. StreamPump is self-configuring and very easy to setup. It is typically used in locations such as corporate branch offices, schools, and similar locations where there are multiple viewers of live video. All viewers access live video from the DEVOS system and the video stream is delivered to viewers from the DEVOS’s internal media server. There may be multiple viewers at a remote office, and if each one received the live stream directly from the DEVOS, then each one would consume bandwidth. For example, if the live stream was encoded at 1Mbps and there are 100 viewers, then 100 Mbps of bandwidth would be needed for all viewers to receive the stream directly from the DEVOS. This is often not possible, but moreover it is inefficient. When StreamPump is installed at a remote office, it communicates with the DEVOS system and it receives the live streams automatically. When a remote office viewer accesses the DEVOS system, the system knows that the viewer has a StreamPump in their network. The viewer then automatically receives the live video via the StreamPump rather than from the DEVOS. Thus, hundreds of viewers at the remote office can view the live video using the bandwidth of only one viewer.
