Purple Box is a CAT5/MADI to optical convertor. It is capable of taking either a CAT5 connection from a DiGiCo SD console or D-Rack, or a MADI connection from an SD console, SD-Rack or other MADI device and convert it for optical transmission, or vice versa. Purple Box allows two MADI or D-Rack streams, or combination of the two. Purple Box has 128 available channels and, as previously mentioned, has completely independent I/Os within the box, the only commonality being the power supplies, two of which are supplied for redundancy. Purple Box’s standard interface is opticalCON, but it can also be ordered with ST or HMA connectors.
