Founded in 2001, the Zhejiang Radio & TV Group broadcasts 20 radio and television channels of various genres and employs over 7,000 people. The fourth largest Chinese broadcasting group is owned by the Zhejiang provincial government.

The group's development has been rapid, with expansions into new markets and new methods of delivering broadcast content. In response to its rapid growth, the group has invested heavily in technology and infrastructure and can now
look to the future with confidence as one of China's leading broadcasters.

The request

The new Zhejiang Broadcasting Center has studio facilities and production bases, as well as several departments for online tasks and new media.

A concept was sought for the building that would enable the responsible employees to immediately connect to any required device or system from their own workstation - even if the equipment is located several hundred meters away in another part of the building.

In addition, a large multi-monitor video wall should be installed, where the video sources of the individual monitor segments can be freely selected and adjusted depending on the application situation.

The solution

This was achieved through a KVM infrastructure with a 160-port Draco tera enterprise matrix switch, which connects around 100 users to over 70 source devices.

The employees, some of whom are spread over several floors in the building, can access the broadcasting equipment located in the central technical room via the Draco tera KVM matrix. The connection is made via Cat X and fiber optic cable, depending on the actual distance.

The multi-channel control for the video wall is also connected to the KVM matrix, so that an administrator can select the appropriate images for the video wall displays depending on the situation.

The use

Users can instantly connect to any device they need and conveniently and quickly complete their daily tasks and responsibilities. Using simple keyboard shortcuts, users can easily switch between the broadcast systems. Switching takes place in real time with no noticeable delay in the video transmission or responsiveness of the mouse and keyboard. It's as if the target system is under your desk.
