TECHNOLOGY-RICH LEARNING ENVIRONMENT DESIGNED FOR SEAMLESS CONNECTED LEARNING
ECC collaborated with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the University of Nebraska Medical Center to give them an immersive and collaborative learning experience at their joint facility. This vibrant facility houses the University Health Center at Nebraska and Lincoln Division of the UNMC College of Nursing. ECC provided classroom Audio Visual Systems to create a technology-rich learning environment for seamless connected learning.
Every student has the ability to bring their own device (BYOD), and wirelessly connect them to AV Learning Carts. Teachers can then take that content and share it to the room’s Video Projection System, or they can even push that content to video displays set around the room. Each classroom's student sections utilize in-ceiling microphones to ensure everyone is heard.
The UNL Health Center — UNMC College of Nursing facility’s AV Systems cover a wide range of different spaces:
12 Psychology Interview Rooms
6 Group Study Classrooms
5 Conference Rooms
4 Flex Classrooms (Dividable Rooms)
2 Wellness Rooms
1 Simulation Nursing Area (ICU, ER, OR, Medical Surgery)
1 Lounge Area
1 Physical Therapy Gym
1 Lecture Hall
1 Research Suite
The Nursing Simulation Labs feature AV Room Recording infrastructure, with each room consisting of a boundary microphone and in-ceiling camera. Next to the Simulation Nursing Area is a debriefing room huddle space equipped with an easy-to-use AV System. The Psychology Interview Rooms also utilize an AV Room Recording System, using a simple start/stop button panel with a privacy switch.
The Flex Dividable Classrooms feature a wall light next to the dividing curtain to easily indicate if the divider is fully open or closed. The teacher station’s AV Control Touch Panel will automatically reconfigure based on if the classroom is open or divided. These Flex Classrooms use a custom Audio Discussion System. Each student section has a Crestron Push-to-Talk Button on the table, a Shure In-Ceiling Microphone Array above them, and a Crestron Room Availability Sign above the projector screen. When a button is pressed, the Shure Microphone in that student section initiates, and the Crestron Availability Sign flashes green.
The facility-wide AV Systems are controlled and distributed by 64x64 High-Definition Digital Media Switchers. Streaming Capture Systems allow for classes to be recorded onto a stored file connected to the university’s network for simple distribution. PTZ Cameras automatically record each session when needed. Each Teacher Podium AV Station is equipped with an AV Control Touch Panel, Wireless Microphone System, and an HD Document Camera. The touch panels are programmed to allow for shade control, audio conferencing, video switching between sources, lighting control, PTZ camera control, and microphone audio control.
