Ralph S. Larsen Finance Lab
To prepare students for exciting careers in finance, the Ralph S. Larsen Finance Lab will equip students with state-of-the-art technology and market data in a Wall Street trading floor atmosphere. Students will become proficient with how to use a Bloomberg terminal to research historical and real-time data on stocks, bonds, economic indicators, foreign currencies, commodities and options.
The Ralph S. Larsen Finance Lab contains 26 computer workstations with dual monitors and instructor podium; 10 Bloomberg Professional terminals; three large-screen televisions showing CNBC, Bloomberg and other financial markets media; and a stock ticker continuously displaying market information.
An Extron Electronics DTP CrossPoint 84 was chosen to be the core matrix and distribution signal backbone since it would meet the demanding needs required by this teaching environment and layout. An Extron DTP HDMI 4K 230 Tx was installed at the main pc to feed the system and one DTP T UWP 232 D two input DTP transmitter for HDMI and VGA with audio embedding wall plate was placed near the teacher for guest laptop connectivity.
The primary display is an 80-inch Sharp LED touch enabled display located behind the teacher station and three 55-inch LG LED flat screens are located on the exterior wall pillars for student collaboration. Each display is receiving content via an Extron DTP HDMI 4K 230 Rx DTP receiver via HDMI connection.
Additional video sources for the lab include a Mersive Solstice Pod which enables multiple users to connect simultaneously to the system and share content, fostering collaboration and decision-making. And four Premier digital TV tuners providing media from broadcast financial markets with realtime data to engage the students.
For the heart of the audio within this space, the QSC Core 110f was the clear answer. Room audio is feed to the core using a Shure MXA910W ceiling microphone array. Eight Bose Free Space 16 ceiling mounted speakers were installed to provide distributed audio within the space.
The Extron Pro 720T a 7” Tabletop TouchLink Pro touch panel was chosen to manage this teaching environment making the workflow and function user friendly.
“The Ralph S. Larsen Finance Lab and its technology has revolutionized the classroom experience. The Mersive Solstice pod allows the students to engage with the course content by displaying their screens on one of the classroom monitors while the professor can alternate what’s displayed on the remaining three monitors. The Touchpanel at the teachers station allows me to seamlessly introduce new content on each of the monitors in a way that stimulates student learning which enhances the educational experience”
