Westworth Village
Westworth Village included multiple projects for upgrading the Audio-Visual capabilities for the City. The main focus was to upgrade both the main courtroom and council chamber at the municipal building. The current AV system was from the original install and used mainly component connections and analog transmission. One of the main goals was to upgrade these systems to digital transmission through the use of Crestron’s DMPS systems. Throughout the design process, it was imperative that DRI work with the City to incorporate a level of new technology that would meet their needs but retain the use of some equipment already on-site. As the design began to come into fruition, that goal was achieved, as the budget was met and the system as a whole would provide the City with an optimal upgrade that can be used for years to come.
Courtroom Upgrades:
In the Courtroom the old equipment was removed and replaced with a DMPS3-4K-140 Crestron 3-Series switcher. This enabled the courtroom to use two (2) DM-TX-302 transmitters at the Prosecution bench and at the Court Administrator’s desk. By upgrading to the Crestron system, DRI was able to use Video and Audio transmission over Digital Media (Category) cable. This provides a clean environment for the customer as a single cable is needed for transmission purposes. At each location, DRI provided a HDMI & VGA connection. Taking the foot candles intro consideration for this space, a Panasonic PT-FZ570 (4,500 Lumens) was optimal to achieve the level of clarity needed during court proceedings. DRI technicians were able to use Keystoning to achieve a seamless image on the Owner Furnished projection screen. The Panasonic projector is designed to accept DM direct. This enables our Custom Programming to send command protocol and video to the projector directly over a single Digital Media (Category) cable. Part of our Custom Programming this space included installing a new Touchpanel for control. DRI utilized a TSW-760 with a table top kit. DRI’s custom programmer was able to provide an intuitive touchpanel design that gives the Court Administrator complete control of the courtroom during proceedings, include input selection, volume control, and system shutdown when it is not longer being used. Another key aspect to this project was upgrading the microphones being used in this space. DRI chose the Shure Wireless MX Series microphone system for this space. A total of four MXW8 Gooseneck Microphones and two MXW2/SM58 microphones were provided for this system. This gives the courtroom some flexibility of where and how they use each microphone. The system works via an 8-Channel Wireless Access Point, the signal from the microphones are then transmitted via Dante over category cable to the DSP, in this case a BIAMP TesiraFORTE DAN VI. From there our DSP programmer was able to program the Audio system to meet the specifications of the Judge and the Court Administrator.
The overall installation has been a complete success, with the City and Court very pleased with their new Audio-Video equipment and its overall functionality during Court proceedings.
Council Chamber Upgrades:
The Council Chamber including an installation very similar to the Courtroom, however, there were a number of additional pieces of technology used to complete the specified and desired functionality for the city. This spaced required using a larger switcher, in this case, the DMPS3-4K-300-C. The need for a larger switch was due to the number of inputs and outputs in this space. DRI utilized Crestron to upgrade the Council Chamber from a component and analog system, to a Digital system. The use of two (2) DM-TX-302’s were used at the City Secretary location and the podium, used by citizens and others presenting content during Council meetings. Video and Audio from both locations would be transmitted via Digital Media (Category) cable. At both locations a HDMI and VGA connection were made available. An additional source for content sharing content is the AirMedia AM-101. This is a wireless BYOD device that lets you share content without a physical connection. The Council Chamber space utilized a unique approach for their outputs, in this case a Panasonic PT-EZ770ZU 6500 Lumens Projector and two (2) 60” Sharp PN-LE601 displays. The main projector is being utilized for content being presented. The City required the ability to window the output to the projector. In order to do this, DRI utilized the Crestron HD-WP-4k-401-C. This Multi-Window processor was used in conjunction with the Lifesize Icon 600 Video Teleconferencing system installed. The City has members, who are at times, not on-site for the calls. In order to achieve the output needed, content sharing the screen with the caller, this windowing processor was able to do just that. The two (2) 60” Sharp displays are being used as additional monitors for the audience; these are designed to share the same image using a distribution amplifier. By taking a single output from the DMPS3-300 switch, we are able to take that signal into a DA from Liberty, the DIGI-1X4B-1H, and send that signal to two receivers, INT-HD70-RX, via category cable. These displays, like all in this space, can share a single image, or be sent their own independent image. As in the Courtroom, the Council Chamber utilizes at TSW-1060 touchpanel with a table top kit. DRI’s custom programmer was able to provide an intuitive touchpanel design that gives the City Secretary complete control of the Council Chamber during Council meetings, include input selection, volume control, microphone volume control, recording, closed session and system shutdown when it is not longer being used. The Council Chamber utilized a mixture of new microphones. For the Dias, DRI utilized the wired MX400DP with 15” gooseneck microphones, MX415/S. These are wired microphones running directly to the DSP, a TesiraFORTE DAN VI. As in the courtroom, the Council Chamber utilizes the Wireless Microphone MX system. A total of three (3) MXW8 and two (2) MXW2/SM58 are being used in this space and give the City flexibility of where to utilize these microphones during Council meetings. The system works via an 8-Channel Wireless Access Point, the signal from the microphones are then transmitted via Dante over category cable to the DSP. From there our DSP programmer was able to program the Audio system to meet the specifications of the Judge and the Cite Secretary.
The overall installation has been a complete success, with the City and Court very pleased with their new Audio-Video equipment and its overall functionality during Council meetings.
